Medicare Supplement

Which Medicare Supplement is right for me?

There are ten different Medicare Supplement Plans to choose from: A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N. All plans cover Part A coinsurance and hospital costs up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used up.

Some plans offer 80 percent of foreign travel exchange, which will be important to anyone who travels outside of the U.S. frequently. Medicare does not cover foreign travel, so if you are looking for a plan to supplement this area of coverage, look into plans C, D, F, G, M, or N.

The Plans in Sum

Plan C offers a comprehensive package covering all but Part B excess charges. These are the costs the doctor bills in excess of the Medicare-approved amount. Plan F tends to be more expensive than other supplement plans but offers a package that leaves nearly no hospital and medical expenses. Plan G is another popular option because once the deductible is met, it pays the remainder left over after Medicare. Plan N is suitable for people looking for lower premiums; for small copayments and a small deductible, you still get coverage for the remaining 20 percent.
